I think it does have an affect, yes. People that aren't very good communicators just love texting. I know a lot of people who much prefer to text rather than talk in person, etc. And it isn't good because they are never going to learn when they have texting to retreat back to. Texting is an awesome tool, but it cannot take the place of other forms of communication, it just isn't good enough. I don't know how many times my words have been misconstrued by others and vice versa through texting, because you don't know the context people are putting their words in when you can't hear them say it. I don't know much about children when it comes to texting, but I can see how it would affect them if they text a lot.
